EVArena started with an ordinary problem. I wanted to buy an electric car, and I could not compare two cars in any meaningful way.
Why this site exists
I was looking for an electric car for myself. It seemed simple. List a few models, put range, battery, power and charging side by side, then choose. The hardest part of buying a car was not the decision. The hardest part was getting to numbers that can be compared at all.
Every manufacturer publishes data differently, and in a different place. One manufacturer quotes the range of the base version. Another quotes the range of the version with the largest battery. One gives kerb weight without a driver, another gives weight in running order. The same car then looks 75 kg heavier, although nothing about the car has changed. Configurators hide the specification behind a colour picker. Technical data sheets sit in press-room PDF files. Reviews cover one model at a time.
After a few evenings with my own spreadsheet, I decided that I was building the table anyway. I could just as well build it properly and publish it. That is how EVArena started.
What we do
We gather the electric cars available in Europe in one place. We then bring them to a single convention: the same units, the same measure, the same reference configuration. A comparison of two cars is then a comparison of cars. It is not a comparison of the ways in which their manufacturers report data.
You can put cars side by side in the comparison tool. You can see on a model page how the variants of that model differ. You can browse a ranking by a single metric. You can also open a ready-made comparison page for two specific models. The catalogue also takes market availability into account. We do not show you cars that are not on sale in your country.
Who is behind it
The site is run by Grzegorz K. This is a one-person project. It is not an editorial team, and it is not an automotive company. I would rather say that plainly than pretend to be a team.
We are not connected to any manufacturer, importer or dealer. Nobody sponsors us. We have no commercial agreements with the industry. We do not sell cars, we do not broker sales, and we do not quote prices. The official sites of the manufacturers do that, and we link to them from every model page.
How the site is funded
EVArena is free and has no paid version. We take no money for a place in the catalogue. We take no money for a position in a ranking. The order follows from the data alone. Rankings are calculated from the same values that you see on the model pages.
The site may show advertising. Advertising is marked as advertising and kept separate from the content. Advertising has no influence on which cars we describe, and no influence on how those cars perform in comparisons.
What you will not find here
Prices, offers, finance calculators and dealer contact forms. This is a deliberate decision. When a site starts to earn money for sending you to a particular seller, that site is no longer a neutral place for comparing cars.
Road tests written by us. We do not drive these cars, and we do not pretend that we drive them. We collect video reviews from YouTube instead, and we name the author of every review.
Comments, forums and written opinions. Publishing what other people write requires moderation. A project run in spare time cannot provide that moderation. A user rating here is a number of stars only, with no text and no nickname.
Where the data comes from
Specifications come from official manufacturer materials: technical data sheets, price lists and press releases. Specifications do not come from other automotive sites. When a value is missing from the material of the manufacturer, we leave the field empty. We do not fill the field with an estimate.
The Methodology page describes the whole process: the sources, the measurement conventions, the verification statuses, and the role of AI tools.
Get in touch
Reports of errors in the data are the most valuable feedback that we receive. Every model page has a Report an error form. There is also a plain email address: [email protected]. The Contact page has the details.
